Olivia Munn

Today is Olivia Munn‘s 31st birthday, and once again, I’m using a birthday as an excuse to post a bunch of pictures and videos of the birthday girl. Hope you folks don’t mind. :)

Tessa Keller

Tessa Keller

Tessa Nicole Keller was the lead character on Season 3 of the MTV reality series Laguna Beach, assuming the narrator role that was held by Lauren Conrad in Season 1 and by Kristin Cavallari in Season 2.

I never saw a single episode of the show, but I remember seeing Tessa narrate the Season 3 preview on MTV, and I was surprised that instead of picking another dumb blonde to assume the lead role, they picked a beautiful Asian girl (Tessa is of Filipino, Irish, and German descent – some sources list her as having Chinese ancestry as well).

I really wasn’t able to find much info about Tessa online – just a few articles from several years back (see BuddyTV, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the Laguna Beach Gossip blog). I’d be really curious to find out what she’s been up to since the show went off the air four years ago.

Hapa birthday Jennifer Field

Jennifer Field

Today is Jennifer Field‘s birthday, and to celebrate I’ve got some pictures, videos, and links for you featuring the birthday girl.

The photos I’ve posted are a sampling from her collaboration with photographer John Agcaoili. More photos, as well as an article he wrote about the experience, can be found on his Tumblr.

The videos I’ve posted include:
* behind-the-scenes footage from the John Agcaoili photoshoot,
* a trilogy about love called “Silent Romance”,
* a Funny or Die video where she plays a talkative date, and
* a MTV Iggy video spotlight on her for the K-Town reality show.

You can find more videos on Jennifer’s YouTube channel.

Finally, I highly recommend checking out her in-depth interview with HalfKorean.com, where she discusses biraciality, acting, and the K-Town show, amongst other topics.

Cher Tenbush

Cher Tenbush

Cheryl Beth Tenbush is best known for kicking serious ass on Season 2 of the reality TV series Beauty and the Geek, teaming with “geek” Josh to win the competition in pretty much a landslide (just take a look here at how many of the weekly challenges she won). It was almost unfair because she was clearly more intelligent than the other “beauties” on the show, but then again would you expect anything less from the Asian girl? :) And she was memorably hot: Complex Magazine recently named her the 25th hottest woman to appear on reality TV. A highlight reel of her appearance on the show can be seen here, and a couple of post-show Q&A’s can be read here and here.

Since appearing on the show, she has worked on multiple projects, such as hosting the web series Cewebrity and being a style guru for the now-defunct Honeyshed online video shopping channel. She has also appeared in several movies, most recently in the film Father vs. Son (check out her IMDb profile for more details).

Cher is half Korean, a quarter Irish, and a quarter German, so you can add her to the list of lovely Korean+Irish ladies to be featured on this site, or if you prefer, the list of half-Asian+Irish+German ones (which includes fellow ass-kicking reality competition star April Wilkner).

Check out Cher’s Twitter @chertenbush, her YouTube channel, and her old Xanga blog. Also check out her Wikipedia entry and this unofficial fan site.

Jennifer Field is tearing up Ktown (and Hollywood)

Jennifer Field

It has been an exciting few weeks for Jennifer Field and the rest of the cast of the K-Town reality show that is currently in production.

The show has continued filming as it awaits to be picked up by a network, and the cast has been attracting attention from paparazzi as they visit more hot spots in Koreatown Los Angeles. Here are a couple of shots taken outside Le Cercle after Jennifer tore it up (like she tears up every place in Ktown):

And here are a couple of pics from a pool party they held on Friday (confirming once again that Jennifer looks great in a bikini):

Meanwhile, Jennifer has continued to attend auditions for other projects, and she has been tearing those up as well, having been offered a number of roles in the last couple of weeks (see here and here and here and here). It’s looking more and more like she’ll never have to go back to bartending ever again!

Natalia Marie and Olivia Munn at Comic-Con 2010

Natalia Marie at Comic-Con

Comic-Con 2010 took place this past weekend. Among the attendees was Natalia Marie, who is half-Filipina and half-Norwegian/Scottish. She was one of the spokesmodels for the Green Hornet movie which is coming out early next year.

She posted several photos from the event (and a really cute pic of her driving to the event) on her Twitter account @msnataliamarie. There were also a couple of real nice pics on calibre68′s Flicker photostream (including the picture above) and I have included those here as well.

Olivia Munn at Comic-Con

Meanwhile, Olivia Munn appeared at a Star Wars themed event for G4 looking quite cute. Check out this positive critique of her outfit by FabSugar.

Jennifer Field is the half-Korean beauty queen of K-Town (the Asian Jersey Shore)

Posted in Pics on July 16th, 2010 by Jody – 8 Comments

Filming has begun on a new reality show modeled after MTV’s Jersey Shore featuring Asian-Americans in L.A.’s Koreatown. Tentatively titled K-Town, the cast was announced via pictures posted on Facebook and Twitter after the shooting of the pilot episode this past weekend. Here is a look at the cast:

The girl standing second to the left is named Jennifer Field, and she instantly set off my hapa-dar. I did a little bit of research and indeed she is half-Korean and half-English/Irish/German. That makes her a member of the hot Korean-Irish club!

Jennifer Field

This girl hasn’t come out of nowhere. She won the 2006 Miss Asian America pageant and also that year she was named Miss San Jose Grand Prix in her hometown of San Jose. She has also done some acting and modeling.

She is on Twitter @JenniferField (the show also has its own Twitter @KTownRealityTV) and she is on Facebook and Myspace. She also has an official website and profiles on IMDB and ModelMayhem.

Olivia Munn on Tour + on The Daily Show

Posted in Links on July 9th, 2010 by Jody – Be the first to comment

Olivia Munn

It has been a busy few weeks for Olivia Munn since I published my last post about her. Her new book Suck It Wonder Woman! hit the bookshelves earlier this week, and she is currently on a book tour to promote the book. The next stop of the tour is here in New York City, tonight (Friday July 9) at 8pm at Midtown Comics on 40th St. and 7th Av. in Times Square. Future stops include Long Island, Dallas, Los Angeles, Pasadena, and Torrance.

Olivia Munn

Also, she recently joined The Daily Show as “senior Asian correspondent”. Her addition to the show has elicited some silly controversy. The author of this article from Jezebel.com claims that The Daily Show has a male-dominated culture that marginalizes women, and that Olivia was hired based on being good-looking rather than on having comedic talent. There has been plenty of backlash to this story, from Daily Show staff as well as from others in the media.

Check out these clips of Olivia’s first three appearances on the show, as well as these articles addressing the show’s “woman problem”.
