Crystal Cunningham

Crystal Cunningham is a half-Korean, half-Caucasian model and dancer from Clarksville, Tennessee. She is a third-year member of the Nashville Predators Dancers – no small feat considering that she was in a bad car accident in 2007 which nearly cost her her right foot.

She is also a Hooters Girl at the Hooters of Downtown Nashville. She recently competed in the 2011 Hooters International Swimsuit Pageant, where she placed in the top 10 out of 100 of the most beautiful Hooters Girls from around the world.

Miss Hawaii USA 2011 Angela Byrd

Posted in Pics on May 18th, 2011 by Jody – Be the first to comment

Angela Byrd

Angela Anela Iokia Byrd is Hawaii’s representative in this year’s Miss USA pageant, which will take place on June 19. She is considered to be one of the frontrunners to win the title of Miss USA 2011, which would earn her the right to compete in the Miss Universe pageant later this year. She is of English, Scottish, and Korean descent.

Accoring to her Facebook bio, Angela was born in Kentucky, but she and her family moved fourteen times before she graduated high school (her father was a U.S. Army officer). She was a talented musician growing up (excelling at piano, flute, and guitar) and was an honor Thespian in high school. She earned a full-ride Army ROTC scholarship to Seattle University, where she studied pre-med, but she decided to leave the ROTC program due to sports-related injuries, and she moved to Honolulu to finish her degree at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is currently a model, and her future goal is to become a physician’s assistant and work with Doctors Without Borders.

Angela is on Facebook. You can also follow the official Miss Hawaii USA Facebook and Twitter. And make sure to vote for her HERE – the winner of the Miss USA online vote will automatically qualify as a semifinalist in the pageant.

Julia Eason on The Voice

Julia Eason

It turns out that Dia Frampton is not the only half-Asian contestant who is competing on NBC’s The Voice.

Julia Eason Harriman is an 18 year old singer/songwriter from Palos Verdes, CA, who (according to her introduction on the show) was a soccer player growing up. That’s pretty much all that I know about her at this point, other than that her voice is beautiful and she is too!

Julia is on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Reverb Nation.

UPDATE: More biographical details, courtesy of NBC.com: “18-year-old Julia from Palos Verdes, California is of Scottish, Korean and Japanese ancestry. But music runs in her family too. Her father, a professional composer, noticed natural talent in Julia as a child, and she soon was singing and performing on the piano, guitar and ukulele. The young singer is a life-long Christina fan – and is ready to do what it takes to win it all. ”

Dia Frampton on The Voice

Dia Frampton on The Voice

Dia Frampton, lead singer of the band Meg & Dia, will be appearing as a contestant on tonight’s episode of The Voice, airing at 9pm (8pm Central) on NBC.

The show is a singing competition that features four musician coaches: Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton. Currently the show is in the “blind audition” phase: Contestants perform while the coaches have their backs turned. If a coach likes what they hear, they push a button and their chair turns around so they can see the contestant. The contestant then gets to choose their coach from amongst the ones that turned around, and they’ll work with that coach for the rest of the competition.

If you haven’t seen the show yet, you should definitely check it out. Only one episode has aired as of yet, but it looks pretty sweet so far, and the presence of Dia Frampton on the show can only make it more awesome.

NBC released a preview of Dia’s blind audition that you can view on NBC.com. Also, check out the links I’ve posted below to learn more about Dia, her sister Meg, and their band Meg & Dia.

Angie Goff

Angie Goff

I’m always fascinated by Americans who spend most of their childhood outside of the United States but who end up returning here as teenagers or young adults and doing quite well. A few examples of Americans who spent much of their youth in Asia include Rumi Neely, Olivia Munn, and this beautiful woman.

Angela “Angie” Goff is a traffic and entertainment news anchor on WUSA-TV Channel 9 in Washington, D.C. She was born in Seoul to a Korean mother and to a Caucasian father who was in the U.S. Army. She lived there for most of her first sixteen years of life, before moving with her family to a D.C. suburb. Check out her Wikipedia entry and this magazine article to see how she got from there to where she is now.

Angie is an avid blogger and is also on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Vimeo.

For more information, check out her WUSA9 profile and this blog posting. And check out these great photos (including the one above) taken by Katherine Hauschka of KateHaus & Alpine Moon Photography.

Chanel Iman

Chanel Iman

Chanel Iman Robinson is a fashion model perhaps best known for her work with Victoria’s Secret — she recently earned her wings. Born in Atlanta and raised in Los Angeles, she is three-fourths African-American and one-fourth Korean (her mother is half Korean).

With a name like Chanel Iman, you figure she was destined for a career in fashion. She was in fact named for the fashion designer Coco Chanel, but not for the model Iman (rather, it’s a family name). Besides being a model, she also runs a fashion boutique with her mother.

You can follow Chanel on Twitter. Also check out her official website, her Wikipedia entry, and her Victoria’s Secret model profile for more info and pics.

Jennifer Field

Today is Jennifer Field‘s birthday, and to celebrate I’ve got some pictures, videos, and links for you featuring the birthday girl.

The photos I’ve posted are a sampling from her collaboration with photographer John Agcaoili. More photos, as well as an article he wrote about the experience, can be found on his Tumblr.

The videos I’ve posted include:
* behind-the-scenes footage from the John Agcaoili photoshoot,
* a trilogy about love called “Silent Romance”,
* a Funny or Die video where she plays a talkative date, and
* a MTV Iggy video spotlight on her for the K-Town reality show.

You can find more videos on Jennifer’s YouTube channel.

Finally, I highly recommend checking out her in-depth interview with HalfKorean.com, where she discusses biraciality, acting, and the K-Town show, amongst other topics.

Cher Tenbush

Posted in Pics on October 25th, 2010 by Jody – 2 Comments

Cher Tenbush

Cheryl Beth Tenbush is best known for kicking serious ass on Season 2 of the reality TV series Beauty and the Geek, teaming with “geek” Josh to win the competition in pretty much a landslide (just take a look here at how many of the weekly challenges she won). It was almost unfair because she was clearly more intelligent than the other “beauties” on the show, but then again would you expect anything less from the Asian girl? :) And she was memorably hot: Complex Magazine recently named her the 25th hottest woman to appear on reality TV. A highlight reel of her appearance on the show can be seen here, and a couple of post-show Q&A’s can be read here and here.

Since appearing on the show, she has worked on multiple projects, such as hosting the web series Cewebrity and being a style guru for the now-defunct Honeyshed online video shopping channel. She has also appeared in several movies, most recently in the film Father vs. Son (check out her IMDb profile for more details).

Cher is half Korean, a quarter Irish, and a quarter German, so you can add her to the list of lovely Korean+Irish ladies to be featured on this site, or if you prefer, the list of half-Asian+Irish+German ones (which includes fellow ass-kicking reality competition star April Wilkner).

Check out Cher’s Twitter @chertenbush, her YouTube channel, and her old Xanga blog. Also check out her Wikipedia entry and this unofficial fan site.
